Yes. According to American Academy of Dermatology, skin tags are indeed a sign of diabetes. Apart from skin tags, you may also experience other warning signs on your skin such as:

  • Yellowish, reddish, or brown patches. It is also referred to as necrobiosis lipoidica
  • A velvet like feeling when you touch certain darker areas of your skin. It is also referred to as acanthosis nigricans
  • Thickened and hardened skin, which is also called digital sclerosis
  • Blisters
  • Skin infections
  • Open wounds or sores
  • Shin spots, also referred to as diabetic dermopathy
  • Outbreak of small bumps that are usually reddish-yellow. It is also referred to as eruptive xanthomatosis
  • Raised lesions or bumps, also known as granuloma annulare
  • Dry and itchy skin
  • Scaly patches around your eyelids. These can happen on eyelids too. The medical name for this condition is xanthelasma
